Live ClassroomThis is a featured page

Robert Atkins is reserving equipment for use with recording a live classroom in Fall 2008. He wears a wireless mic, opens his ppt presentation, sets the screen capture of Camtasia to record and proceeds to give his usual in class lecture using powerpoints and his clicker that allows him to move the slides forward.
After class has ended he then produces the recordingin Camtasia and posts the link online for several of his classes.

This system serves his:
-In class students (So classtime is not used for the lecture but is freed up for lecture follow-up and discussion.)
-His hybrid class students (So classtime is not used for the lecture but is freed up for lecture follow-up and discussion.)
-And his Fully Online students.

Serving multiple learning styles as well as different lifestyles:
-Link / production can be accessed 24/7
-Link / production can be accessed repeatedly. (and play important points over again.)
-Link / production can be played and paused at will.
-Link can be smoothly accessed for use in tandem with text. (Students can follow along by looking at the textbook at the same time as listening to the lecture (which presents somewhat parallel but different information).
-He’s looking for the procedure to pull just the audio file out to make it available as an mp3 available for downloading. (Disconnecting the student learning from the computer and making it pirtable via mp3 players.)
-Also think about creating the script for closed caption and making that available separately as well.

This is an excellent methodology for recreating a face to face classroom style and making it available to Distance Learners taking a Fully Online class.

Time Management
In addition, this methodology is a great example of how to organize the instructor’s time to maximize on the efficiency maybe minimize time spent doing extra work! One recording is available and pertinent to 3 different classes and modalities!
